Psalm 100: A Psalm Of Thanksgiving

Connect in the spirit with Father God by thanking and praising Him through Lord King Jesus. Beloved child of God we are to worship Father God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). Now that we live and have our very being in the Lord King Jesus (Acts 17:28), we can do that. Psalm 100 is a great way to get a connection with Father.

The first thing Psalm 100 tells us, beloved child of God, is to make a joyful noise to the Lord. Throughout the psalms the psalmist tells us¬† that God loves a joyful sound and a loud one also. An example of this is in Ps. 47:5. It says God has ascended amid shouting, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Ps. 71:23 says my lips shall shout for joy when I sing praises to You, and my inner being, which You have redeemed. Ps. 81:1(b) says-shout for joy to the God of Jacob! So beloved child of God,¬†cultivate a joyful praise in your alone time with God and let your spirit be lifted up to Father in a state of gladness. Beloved child of God, Father loves a joyful sound as it says in Ps. 89:15-Blessed(happy, fortunate, to be envied), are the people who know the joyful sound [who understand and appreciate the spiritual blessings symbolized by the feasts]; they walk, O Lord, in the light and favor of Your countenance! So don’t be bashful before God, beloved child of God, to make loud noises in praise to Him.

The second point Psalm 100 tells us is that we should serve the Lord with gladness. We serve a joyful God. He wants you to be happy in His Presence. In His Presence is fullness of joy(Ps. 16:11). Even in troubles as in John 16:33, He tells us to be of good cheer, for He has overcome the world. Being of good cheer will help you to serve the Lord heartily. Colossians 3:17 says-And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. So ask the Father to help you cultivate a joyful praise that is needed in even in troubling circumstances. Glory to God, beloved child of God! It will help you to do what Colossians 3:23 says-Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily(from the soul) as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.

The third point Psalm 100 brings out is-Come before His Presence with singing! Ps. 47:6 says-Sing praises to God, sing, sing praises, Sing praises to our King, sing praises! This verse mentions singing to King Jesus four times in one verse. How important this singing is to God! There is wisdom in singing to God. For one thing in Ps. 8:2, it says that praise silences the avenger (NIV). You become filled and stimulated with Holy Spirit by speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord. So beloved child of God- SING TO GOD AND BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT(Eph. 5:18-19)!

The fourth point Psalm 100 tells us is to be aware that we are the sheep of His pasture. He is our Great Shepherd King. This is saying for us to submit to His will in our lives and let Him lead and guide us, for He made us and not we ourselves(Eph. 2:10). We are the Lord’s, Who is God. We are not our own(1Cor. 6:19). The fifth thing Ps. 100 says is to enter His gates with thanksgiving and enter His courts with praise. These are spiritual sacrifices, we as new testament priests are to offer up to God(1Peter 2:5, Heb. 13:15). Ps 95:2 says also-Let us come before His Presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise! So be be thankful and say so to Him. Bless affectionately praise His name(Ps.100:4).

Lastly Psalm 100 says we can recognize and say to the Lord that He is good and that His mercy and lovingkindness are everlasting and that His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations. This speaks of His grace. Connect to Father by telling Him these truths for His Word is truth(John 17:17) and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth(John 4:24) and you do that when you speak these truths. It glorifies Him. Glory to God! Beloved child of God, praising and thanking Father through our Lord Jesus(Eph. 5:20), will lift your spirit. Ps. 61:2 says-lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Get connected to the Rock through thanks and praise, beloved child of God! Be blessed.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for your goodness and mercy and lovingkindness you show toward me. Thank You for the Lord King Jesus Who redeemed me back to You. Thank You for Your marvelous Holy Spirit Who glorifies Jesus in me. I give You all the praise and honor that is due You! Help me to worship You in spirit and in truth and to cultivate a joyful praise unto You by Your Holy Spirit through Lord King Jesus and let me worship You in the beauty of holiness. I thank You for it now in Jesus’ name, Amen.
